On the Fourth of July, 150 years later, alumni, friends, administrators, and clergy returned to Lookout Mountain to kick off the sesquicentennial celebration of the University's founding with a service at The Church of the Good Shepherd.
The anniversary service included prayers for the University's continued success. Anniversary Service: After the service concluded, a group of cyclists (made up of alumni, students, and friends) set off to carry an 1857 United States flag replica from Lookout Mountain to Sewanee, where it joined the Sewanee Fourth of July parade.
